February 2011: Treefellers work at Lake Vrynwy Estate appears on BBC Countryfile programme

Treefellers were contracted by The Forestry Commission this month to fell the largest tree in England and Wales, after the tree suffered significant storm damage. The Douglas Fir tree estimated to be approximately 122 years old was located on the Lake Vrynwy Estate, Wales and stood at a huge 63.79 meters tall. The tree had held the record for the last two years. Whilst it was a sad day to see the largest tree in England and Wales come down, spirits were lifted for all involved later in the week when its successor was found nearby and one of Treefellers arborists, Stuart Clarke was there to assist in measuring the tree and was able to be the first climber to climb the newly crowned tallest tree in Wales standing at 60.62 metres. Countryfile, one of the BBC1's prime time shows filmed the felling of the tallest tree and the measuring of its successor. The show was aired on on Sunday 20th March 2011. Julia Bradbury the popular TV presenter was there to film the action and follow the weeks activities.
